Based on our testing of other Yamazaki products, we generally like what this brand makes.Diy collapsible display stand. We did find two reviews on Houzz about the Yamazaki being wobbly (an issue with many shoe racks), but the same reviewers rate it highly because it looks nice and works well. We considered many beautiful consoles, like the Article Taiga console (now discontinued), that just felt too big to be practical for a small entryway. At 26 inches long, 10 inches deep, and 34 inches high, it’s one of the most compact models we found. The slim Yamazaki is more likely to fit in a small entryway than any other rack we found. The tower is the only console we found with accessory hooks that could hold an umbrella or a set of keys. It’s the only option we saw that is both a console and a shoe rack: with five large shoe shelves (Yamazaki says the rack can hold up to 24 pairs) and a wooden top that’s useful for stacking mail and storing keys. We didn’t test any consoles in person, but the Yamazaki Home Tower Shoe Rack is the most compact yet functional one we found in our research. Spicing up entryway decor is often secondary to getting organized, but giving it some thought makes a huge difference in how your space feels. Think about adding accessories like mirrors, hanging some wallpaper, or swapping in a unique light fixture. Make a statement with style: Nearly all of our experts recommended adding a dose of personal style in your entryway to distinguish your space as unique and set the tone for guests without taking up any additional space.Multifunctional pieces, like the Arnold Circus Stool (or anything from our ode to stools), really help maximize space because they can do double duty as either a storage bin or a seat. If a bench is too large for your entryway, consider instead a small stool or chair so you have a spot to sit and put on your shoes. Find seating that works: If you have space for a bench, we recommend the Seville Classics Foldable Storage Bench Ottoman in our small bedroom guide. If shoe clutter is your nemesis, spend the money for a large, functional rack. If you don’t have a closet, investing in a wardrobe is the one thing that will make a big impact in the organization of your space. Then figure out what kind of storage you need most and spend your money there. Spend strategically: Before buying anything, weed out old coats, shoes, or other items you no longer wear, so you can begin with the essentials. If you can’t fit a console, mount a shelf. Instead of keeping keys in a bowl, hang a rack. Maximize vertical space: Mounting coat racks, hooks, or shelves to the wall adds storage, moving clutter up and away from open surfaces or the floor. If you can’t accommodate large furniture, keep seasonal coats and shoes in your entryway, and stow other items elsewhere. Hide jackets, shoes, and storage bins behind closed doors whenever possible if you don’t have a coat closet, a wardrobe or armoire is a good alternative that looks tidy even if its contents are jumbled. ![]() Consider labeling each basket with what it contains to make it easy to find your gear-some people like to organize seasonally, others by type of item. ![]() Hide clutter: Invest in baskets or bins so you can easily sort and store hats, scarves, umbrellas, and small bags.
